So, it's 2010 and I have decided to re-invent myself (at least that's what I think you would call it). I have signed up to participate in a triathalon, I am once again doing the 3 Day Walk, I have joined a gym and have been going at least once a week (which is MAJOR for me) and I am trying to fix my horrible eating ways...
I do have to confess, keeping track of what I am eating is a pain in the a** but I know it needs to be done. Apparently I, as a Virgo, am supposed to be very organized and detail oriented. Well, I do believe that I am the Anti-Virgo! I am probably one of the most unorganized people you will meet and when it comes to details; HA!, who needs them.
I have found that having someone to be accountable to is helping, thanks Alexis!! I only wish that I could be more motivated to hit the gym in the morning instead of after work. I have tried but its a major ordeal having to pack EVERYTHING to get ready for work at the gym. I enjoy working out in the mornings but I dislike more the night before packing.
Well, back to work and then off to the gym!!

Gotta run (literally)! :-)

look out DC, here we come!
Yes, I'm doing it again - I signed up for the 2010 Komen 3-Day for the Cure (formerly The Breast Cancer 3-Day)! This is my 6th year participating in this event and I'm going back for more. This will be my 2nd walk as a breast cancer survivor! I'm so excited about this year; I will be walking in our nation’s capital, Washington, DC along with my brother in memory of our mother, Maryanne.
This event isn't easy, but I promise you, I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't believe 100% that it was worth every muscle ache, weary night and training walk!
I'm taking an amazing journey and I'd like you to support me. Thousands of women and men are going to walk 60 miles over the course of three days to raise money for breast cancer research and community outreach through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.
Because every woman (and man) is at risk for breast cancer - a disease that strikes 1 out of every 8 women at random and for which the causes and cures are still unknown - I know that every moment counts. Without a cure, an estimated 25 million women and men around the world will be diagnosed with breast cancer - and 10 million could die - over the next 25 years. This disease has affected my family 3 times already; I lost my grandmother in 1980, my mom and I were diagnosed 6 days apart in October 2008; my mom lost her battle on her 67th birthday, September 10, 2009.
I need your help. I am planning on surpassing the $5,000 that you - my friends and family - gave so generously last time around to help fight breast cancer. Over the past 5 years I personally have raised over $20,000 in the fight against breast cancer.
Please go to www.the3day.org/goto/patti_tyson to visit my personal fundraising page and make a donation or you can donate by mail with the enclosed donation form. You can also join my team by visiting http://www.the3day.org/goto/tysons.tata.troops.
If you have any questions or want to hear more about what I'm doing, I love talking about the event. Thanks for all of your support. I'm incredibly lucky to have people like you in my life!
Thank you for your love and support,
Patti
P.S. Don't wait - donate today!

ah, once again, it's tax season
It's that time of year again! The time of year when CPA firms blast into overdrive (and overtime). The time of year when we in the field of accounting, rarely see our family and friends and see WAY too much of our coworkers. You must truly love those you work with when working at a CPA firm because during January through April you spend more time with them then your spouse and children.
I do care for the people I work for, I have been at this firm for over 8 years, we have become family over that period of time. This is good and bad, by the end of "tax season" we are fighting like brothers and sisters!
I do love my job, I think you have to to do this year after year.
Well, I better get back to it, there are more W-2's to get out!!

Out with the old, in with the new!
Happy New Year!
I, for one, am very thankful that 2009 is gone. It was a year filled with sickness, heartbreak and death for our little family. Good riddance to 2009!!
2010 will be a year of new and great challenges. I have done something I would not have even considered in past years, I have signed up to do a TRIATHALON! What was I thinking?? Actually, I am very excited about this adventure. I have 6 months to train so I should be good there. I have never been a runner but at the young age of 44, I have decided that running might be possible. Maybe it's all the trauma of cancer, surgeries and drugs that have warped my brain into thinking this, but whatever it is, I'm going to do it!
I will also be participating in my 6th Breast Cancer Walk (Now called the Komen 3 Day for the Cure), this year in Washington, DC. My brother will be walking with me, both of us remembering our mom and honoring me being a survivor.
Well, here's to hoping that 2010 is my best year ever!!
